Frequently Asked Questions - PlaySTEAM Voyager Sailboats
- Yes, both the Voyager 400 and Voyager 280 are equipped with an electric motor that helps propel the sailboat forward, in addition to harnessing wind power. The included battery-powered 2-channel radio-controlled transmitter operates both the motor and the rudder/sail angle, letting you steer and adjust to the wind.
- Both models use a 2.4GHz radio-controlled system. The transmitter controls the rudder, sail angle, and the motor to help you steer and manage speed efficiently.
- Voyager 400: 26.5 inches (672mm) tall from the bottom of the keel to the top of the mast, and 4 inches (100mm) wide. It rises about 21 inches above the waterline.
- Voyager 280: 16.5 inches (420mm) tall from the bottom of the keel to the top of the mast, and about 3 inches (75mm) wide.
- Speed depends on wind conditions and how you balance motor use with wind power. We recommend calm to moderate breezes and avoiding use in gusts or winds above 15 mph.
- They can be used in saltwater, but they are not designed for rough waters, significant waves, or high winds. Always rinse with fresh water after saltwater use to prolong the life of your boat.
- Yes! Both come fully assembled. Just insert 4 AA alkaline batteries into the transmitter and charge the included LiPo battery located in the boat. The LiPo battery powers the motor, servos, and receiver.
- Simply connect the battery to the charging port on the back of the transmitter. Charging typically takes about 15 minutes.
- Both models use a 2.4GHz frequency, which does not require a license.
- Locate the small “table” on the deck, rotate it 90 degrees to unlock the latch, and lift the hatch to access the interior components.
